OK as you know i do like to faff about with my rifles , { all in the interests of science ) latest is the purchasing of a BSA Gold star Barrel SE . yep the one that takes no wind ( or less than others ) they say ? we will see ??? HOLLY
OK the heat at the mo is Killing the shooting . most i have managed is five lanes and done . sweat running down my back . but on the zero range i tried mixing and matching muzzle breaks and still air chambers . settled on one that i think gave me nearly a quarter inch on the old groups at 55 . we will see how it goes on the course / HOLLY
We don't plod at carisbrooke . we leap ??? HOLLY
We shall see who beats who, you just keep plodding along and do what you do best? what was that again??
OK i think we are on the right track now with the steyr . thinking about it . the problem with the groups started when i shifted the 16 mil LW barrel over onto the LG 100 . the LG100 action frame only has one barrel bolt . also the breech is shorter than the LG 110 which also has two barrel bolts . on the 100 the front barrel support has been relieved so as to float the barrel . all in all not good on what is a heavy barrel . so crammed as many O rings into the forward support as i could . and i fitted a weight to the front of the action to damp things down as well . so today was suck it and see . after zeroing i moved to 55 yards and knew straight away that it was working . groups pulled in tight and the top turret elevation was up from 3.2 to 4 . so no flip . dead as Keiths hopes of beating me . also decided to change my way of ranging and shooting . gonna try using 25 mag to range on with the march and shoot on twenty mag . ??? HOLLY
Well after the shutz i found it hard to sit still with the steyr . not helped by the fact i could not use my jacket cos of the heat . so back onto the shutz with the scope untill i can get a dedicated scope for the steyr ,
OK back onto the steyr next week . can't do more than a month on each rifle . FTP barrel on board ??? HOLLY
decided to stop messing about and fit the Falcon to the steyr . so as soon as i can i will get the ranges and lifts sorted ??? HOLLY
Well i have to say that this barrel is exceeding expectations . accuracy is very good , so is grouping . only thing i am not too sure about is windage . shot around today on the course . but my position at the mo is not great . not fit enough . so gotta work on that ??? HOLLY
Windy tomorrow so cannot really expect too much . but will put plenty of lead down the barrel to see how it goes and try some exacts . although i have never found a barrel that really likes em so far ??? HOLLY
No issues yet and pellet on pellet at 35 yards is a good start off the bench ??? HOLLY
New Look ? barrel wise . ir is right , will it work ? HOLLY
