Field Target Shooting

The Newchurch Outdoor Target Venue

Here we enjoy shooting in beautiful woods where the targets are set in trees, bushes and open land. Basically the targets are made of rust proof metal, some are geometric shaped and others to represent vermin.

Within the face plates of the targets is a 15, 25 or 40mm hole with a plunger behind, a shot within this hole will cause the target to fall thus scoring a “hit”. We have about 40 of these dotted around the ground at varying distances.

Another type of target is the knock up/down type where the head of the target can be felled by a hit and then reset by hitting a paddle located underneath.

You can test yourself each week by taking a score card round and seeing how you progress.

We are fortunate in having an on-site static caravan facility where shooters can shelter from bad weather and enjoy a cup of tea/coffee.

Please note that if you already own an airgun, be it Traditional Spring Gun, Gas Ram or Pre-Charged Pneumatic (pcp), rifles and pistols must conform to the legal limit of 12 foot pounds for air rifles and 6 foot pounds for air pistols, the club does possess the means to test all airguns.

Please note that the shooting of live quarry is prohibited on the club grounds.

Anyone wishing to undertake the Field Target Discipline will be instructed to the highest level by our excellent Field Target Team.

Dont worry if you do not have a weapon, we have club weapons to enable you to shoot.

We are a friendly bunch and no matter what gender, or age, you will be assured a warm welcome.
